The Dunnings Junior Open 2018
Last Saturday saw 40 competitors aged between 8 and 17 descend on the club to battle it out in the long awaited return of the Dunnings Junior Open.
It was a long and busy day with 60+ matches taking place across our 3 courts. The quality of squash from the under 19’s right through to the under 11’s was very high and many of the finals went the distance making for some entertaining battles.
5 of Dunning’s own took part on the day. All battled hard and played well and no less than 2 were victorious on the day. Brothers Tom and Zack Greengrass took the spoils in the boys U15’S and U11’s respectively. Older brother Jamie aging up into the strong under 19’s and finishing in a respectful 4th place. 2 more Dunning’s brothers, Luke and Liam Ferris, took part in the U15 and U19 events and although no trophies, competed hard and gained valuable experiance from the experience.
The now established balcony got some great use on Saturday with many comments of how good a space it is as well as being a great view of the squash.
It was great to see a few of our members pop down to see all the action unfold, To those who didn’t, don’t worry, there is another chance! The club has been awarded the chance to host another sanctioned event in June next year. We plan on making this a big one. Watch this space…
